Operatives of the command's Anti-Kidnapping Unit carried out the operation on August 2, following a tip-off from one of the arrested suspects, Musbahu Ishaq. Further investigation established that Musbahu Ishaq obtained arms and ammunition from one Rabiu Hassan and supplied them to one Baba Alhaji Sanusi, a suspected bandit kingpin at large.

A search of the hideout led to the recovery of the two rifles and live ammunition allegedly concealed in the forest. The police are working to arrest other members of the syndicate, recover additional weapons linked to the group, and charge the suspects in court.
