Oyo Kidnappers Beheaded Male Teacher Amid 56-Day Ordeal, Says Rescued Principal

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde received the rescued principal and children at the state government's headquarters with tight military escort. The Federal Government confirmed the rescue of the Community High School pupils and staff after over 50 days in captivity. Mrs. Rachael Alamu, the rescued principal, recounted the harrowing account of why kidnappers killed two of the school's male teachers during an interview with journalists.

Speaking to journalists on Monday, Alamu recounted the tragic details of the abduction. According to the principal, mathematics teacher Mr. Michael Oyedokun was beheaded while in captivity, while 49-year-old Mr. Esiyan Adegboye was shot and killed during the initial invasion. Adegboye was later buried in Ogbomoso on May 22.

Alamu highlighted that the kidnappers believed killing the male teachers would compel the government to provide them whatever they wanted. She emphasized that the kidnappers already knew the whole world was interested in the case and aimed to gain leverage with their actions. The rescued principal expressed appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of the rescue operation.

Recounting their 56-day ordeal, the principal emphasized that the victims spent most of their captivity in the open forest, battling harsh weather while working tirelessly to keep the children alive and emotionally stable. She pointed out that they kept going because there was no way out and people's prayers kept them going.

Although she was not physically assaulted, several of the younger pupils suffered severe beatings whenever they cried or made noise, Alamu disclosed. The rescued pupils and teachers were handed over to the state government by the Federal Government.

The 56-day ordeal of the victims was a harrowing experience, with the principal and teachers battling harsh weather and working tirelessly to keep the children alive. The kidnapped victims were held captive in the open forest, where they faced extreme conditions.
