TV presenter and musician Molemo 'Jub Jub' Maarohanye was arrested on Sunday, 14 June, after he allegedly kidnapped an Uber driver and fired a gun at him — all because he thought the driver was dating his girlfriend.

The incident happened in the early hours of the morning at Jub Jub's home in Edenvale, east of Joburg. Police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe confirmed that the Uyajola 9/9 host confronted the e-hailing driver who'd just dropped off his girlfriend. He then forced the driver into his own car and discharged a firearm in his direction.

Jub Jub is facing charges of kidnapping, defeating the ends of justice, and discharging a firearm in public. He's expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrates' Court on Monday.

His girlfriend's identity hasn't been made public. But this is far from the first time Jub Jub's love life has landed him in trouble.

Police Spokesperson Athlenda Mathe confirmed that the incident occurred after the TV personality confronted an e-hailing driver who'd dropped off his girlfriend at his Edenvale residence in the early morning.

In 2022, his then-fiancée Tumi Mthembu publicly accused him of being a "serial cheater." She claimed he dated multiple women during their relationship and gave them engagement rings to keep quiet. Soon after, photos of Jub Jub with another woman — reportedly named 'Kira' — went viral, showing her wearing a ring on her ring finger.

Jub Jub has also been linked to journalist Masechaba Ndlovu and actress Amanda du Pont, both of whom laid rape charges against him. Amanda made the allegations in a 2022 social media post, also claiming he violently abused her during their relationship. He was arrested in 2023, but the charges were withdrawn a year later.

His most famous relationship was with singer Kelly Khumalo, which started in 2010. They had a son, Christian, later that year. But the relationship fell apart when Jub Jub was charged with murder (later reduced to culpable homicide) for a 2012 car crash that killed four children. He was sentenced to prison and the couple split. They're still at odds — Kelly recently called him "more of an uncle than a father" and said if he wanted custody, he should've taken her to court.

While in prison, Jub Jub was linked to media personality Matsatsi Rampa. But that ended badly when Sunday World reported that "notorious celebrity relationship wrecker" Edwin Sodi had impregnated her. He was also linked to Durban dancer Czernaaz Metedad around the same time as his relationships with Kelly and Amanda. And there was an Italian girlfriend, Zenith Zee Mia, who reportedly started dating him while he was still behind bars.

This latest arrest adds to a long list of legal troubles for the 43-year-old star. He served 11 years for the 2012 crash that killed four Soweto schoolchildren — a case that shocked the country and turned him from a beloved rapper into a convicted killer. He was released on parole in 2017 and later got his own TV show, Uyajola 9/9, where he helps couples confront infidelity. The irony isn't lost on anyone.

For now, Jub Jub remains in custody. His court appearance on Monday will likely reveal more details about the alleged kidnapping and whether his girlfriend will come forward. But one thing is already clear: his temper and his love life have once again put him on the wrong side of the law.
