Anulika Onyeanusia, a 36-year-old woman, is in police custody in Anambra State after she was arrested for allegedly producing and uploading a pornographic video featuring her own eight-year-old daughter. The Anambra State Police Command apprehended her in Onitsha following the viral spread of a deeply disturbing video that showed the alleged abuse. Investigators say Onyeanusia confessed that her motive was to make money, admitting that the highest sum she had earned from such content was $300.
The video in question reportedly depicts the mother using sex toys on her second child, the eight-year-old girl. Sources indicate that preliminary investigations suggest this might not be the first time; police suspect Onyeanusia may have subjected her first daughter to similar acts and uploaded that content online as well. During interrogation, Onyeanusia’s explanation for her actions was, "It is the devil, please forgive me." She also claimed her husband was completely unaware of her alleged activities involving their two daughters.
The police were alerted and mobilized after the graphic video began circulating. The command stated they acted on open-source intelligence to track down the suspect. The footage captured the young girl crying and pleading with her mother to stop as the alleged abuse continued, apparently while Onyeanusia was filming for an online audience. The operation, which took place on Thursday evening, resulted in the rescue of four other children found in the suspect's care, aged two, three, six, and nine years. Police also recovered sex toys and other items believed to be crucial evidence.
SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the command's spokesman, confirmed the arrest and the rescue of the children. He stated that Onyeanusia remains in custody as the investigation intensifies to uncover the full scope of the alleged offenses and determine if anyone else was involved. The suspect's husband is also being questioned to ascertain any potential connection to the alleged crimes.
Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Nnanna Oji, expressed deep distress over the alleged incident, calling it unacceptable given the vulnerability of children. He has ordered a thorough and professional investigation and stressed that the rescued children must receive proper care and protection. The command is committed to ensuring the safety, dignity, and well-being of the victims, vowing to work with child protection agencies for their recovery, including counselling and support. The identities and privacy of the children will be protected throughout this process, and they will be treated with compassion. The Command also took a moment to commend the local vigilante operatives, bloggers, and residents whose information was instrumental in aiding the investigation and leading to Onyeanusia's arrest. The investigation is ongoing to establish all the facts surrounding the alleged abuse.
