We are building an economy that is resilient, sustainable, and driven by the private sector. Government does not have all the answers, and we remain open to constructive dialogue and partnerships that will position Plateau as the economic powerhouse of Northern Nigeria, Governor Caleb Mutfwang declared.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang, the chief executive of Plateau State, has unveiled a private sector roadmap aimed at driving the state's industrial growth. The roadmap, unveiled during a breakfast meeting with manufacturers, investors, and business leaders in Jos, the state capital, highlights the importance of manufacturing in the state's economic transformation.

The Governor commended investors for maintaining confidence in Plateau despite years of economic and security challenges. He assured them that his administration is creating an enabling environment for businesses through improved infrastructure, enhanced security, policy reforms, and strategic partnerships.

At the heart of the state's industrialisation strategy is agribusiness. Governor Mutfwang identified agribusiness as a vital sector that will provide raw materials for manufacturing and create jobs. He said investments in potatoes, livestock, coffee, acha, horticulture, and other agricultural value chains will unlock complete value chains.

The state government is taking steps to support agribusiness through initiatives such as the establishment of the West Africa's largest Potato Tissue Culture Laboratory for quality seed multiplication. It is also rehabilitating tractor fleets and constructing an ultra-modern abattoir to enhance meat production.

Mohammed Nyalum, the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, described the meeting as a strategic platform for sustained dialogue between government and industry. He expressed optimism that closer collaboration between the government and the private sector will accelerate industrialisation, attract investments, and create more jobs.

Ajibola Kayode-Ojo, the Chairman of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Bauchi, Benue, Plateau, Gombe, and Nasarawa Branch, praised Governor Mutfwang for initiating direct engagement with manufacturers. He urged the state government to harmonise taxes and levies to eliminate multiple taxation and reduce regulatory bottlenecks.
