The Lagos State Government has announced a traffic diversion plan following the commencement of reconstruction works at Anthony Village Bus Stop. Excavation works have begun as part of efforts to provide a lasting solution to the section of the road that has suffered repeated damage from heavy rainfall.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, disclosed this in a statement shared on his X handle on Tuesday. According to him, the affected portion of the road will be reconstructed using interlocking stones to improve its durability.

As part of the intervention, motorists travelling from Fadeyi intending to access the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway through Anthony Village will not be able to use the route for the duration of the project. Similarly, motorists planning to use the Anthony Village Bus Stop service lane to connect Oshodi have been advised to avoid the route and remain on the expressway before connecting through an available road further ahead.

Motorists travelling from Oshodi and intending to access Anthony–Ikorodu Road through Anthony Village have been advised to note that there is currently no through road at the project location. The ministry has advised all motorists to plan their journeys in advance, avoid Anthony Village Bus Stop and the affected service lane where possible, and make use of alternative routes to minimize delays.

The government has appealed to road users for patience and cooperation throughout the reconstruction period. ‘The Lagos State Government appreciates the understanding and cooperation of all road users during the period of the project,’ the statement added.
