Ugo Ferdinand Ukwueze, the Chairman of Igbo-Eze South Local Government Council, Enugu State, has received an Award of Administrative Excellence from Africare Economic Development Trust Organisation, Abuja. He received the award in a ceremony held recently.
Mr Ukwueze, a lawyer and deputy chairman of the Enugu chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, disclosed this in a Facebook post on Friday, 3 July. Africare organised the award in conjunction with the Civic Rights for Good Governance and Top News International Magazine, Abuja.
The award is in recognition of Ukwueze's dedication to transparent governance and people-centred leadership in Igbo-Eze South Local Government Council. Mr Ukwueze said it was a profound honour to receive the award. 'I accept this recognition with profound gratitude, humility and an even greater sense of responsibility. While this award acknowledges our commitment to transparent governance, institutional reforms and people-centred leadership, I consider it a reflection of the collective efforts and the support of the good people of Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area,' Ukwueze stated in the Facebook post.
The chairman thanked Africare, Civic Rights for Good Governance and Top News International Magazine for finding his administration's 'modest contributions worthy of this prestigious honour.' He also thanked the Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, 'whose visionary leadership continues to inspire excellence in governance across Enugu State.' 'I dedicate this recognition to the resilient people of Igbo-Eze South, whose confidence, cooperation and support continue to inspire us to serve with greater commitment,' Ukwueze stated.
Africare is a non-governmental organisation that promotes economic development and good governance in Africa. Ukwueze's award is a recognition of his efforts to promote transparency and accountability in his local government area. 'I am grateful that our efforts to promote good governance in Igbo-Eze South Local Government Council have been recognised at the national level,' Ukwueze said.
Ukwueze's administration has been implementing various development projects in Igbo-Eze South Local Government Council, including the construction of roads, schools, and healthcare facilities. 'I am committed to continuing our efforts to improve the lives of our people and to promote sustainable development in our local government area,' Ukwueze said.
Ukwueze has been the Chairman of Igbo-Eze South Local Government Council since 2022. He has been a strong advocate for good governance and transparency in his local government area. 'I believe that transparency and accountability are essential for good governance, and I am committed to promoting these values in our local government area,' Ukwueze said.
Ukwueze's award is a recognition of his commitment to promoting good governance and development in Igbo-Eze South Local Government Council.
