Ghana-China Relations Stronger Than Ever, Says Ambassador Cong Song

China's Ambassador to Ghana, Cong Song, has described Ghana as a country of remarkable warmth, cultural diversity and vibrancy. Speaking at his first press briefing in Ghana, Mr Cong Song said his engagements with Ghanaians from all walks of life had reinforced his conviction of the friendship between Ghana and China.

This enduring friendship, he said, provided a solid foundation for expanding bilateral cooperation. The Ambassador noted that the strategic partnership between the two countries had continued to flourish under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama and Chinese President Xi Jinping, with growing political trust and expanding cooperation across various sectors.

He mentioned that the sustained engagement between the two Heads of State had deepened mutual confidence and created new opportunities for practical cooperation in trade, investment, infrastructure development, industrialisation and people-to-people exchanges. Through these efforts, both countries aim to strengthen their ties and boost economic growth.

Since taking office, Ambassador Cong Song has been immersed in Ghana's vibrant culture and has engaged with various stakeholders to foster greater cooperation between the two nations. He expressed optimism about the future of Ghana-China relations, saying he looked forward to working closely with the Government of Ghana, development partners, the business community, academia, the media and the Ghanaian people to elevate the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

Mr Cong Song said he was deeply impressed by Ghana's unique charm, citing the country's warm sunshine, hospitable people, diversifying culture and vitality of society. He also commended the historical bond between Ghana and China, which he believes has created a strong foundation for the two nations to build on.

Ghana and China have a long history of cooperation, dating back to the founding leaders of the two countries, Ghana's first President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, and Chairman Mao Zedong. This historical foundation has continued to shape the relationship between the two nations, with successive generations of leadership working to strengthen their ties.

As a result of their efforts, the two countries have made significant progress in various areas, including trade, investment, infrastructure development, and people-to-people exchanges. Ambassador Cong Song attributed the success of their relationship to the mutual respect, trust, and practical cooperation between the two nations.

The Ambassador also emphasized the importance of the Ghana-China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperation Framework, which provides a framework for cooperation in various sectors, including trade, investment, infrastructure development, and industrialisation. He expressed his commitment to working with the Ghanaian people to implement this framework and elevate the partnership between the two countries.

With the Ambassador's commitment to strengthening the relationship between Ghana and China, it is expected that both countries will continue to deepen their cooperation and build on their shared historical bond. This will undoubtedly lead to greater economic growth, job creation, and improved living standards for the people of Ghana.
