The new tennis complex, which will feature outdoor courts with stunning views of the Mactan Channel and the surrounding mountains, is set to meet World Tennis Association (WTA) 125 standards. This makes Cebu a more attractive venue for top-level international competitions.

One of the biggest names that could potentially feature at the SRP facility is Philippine tennis sensation Alex Eala. Eala has already made waves in the international tennis scene, and a WTA 125 tournament in Cebu would provide her with a fantastic opportunity to showcase her skills.

In a Facebook post shared on Friday, May 29, the PSC and RLC outlined the details of the proposed project. Leading the presentation were RLC Senior Vice President and Business Unit General Manager Cora Ang Ley, Chief Strategist and Head of Sustainability Ramon Rivero, and Digital Office Director Luz Artillero. They introduced the vision for the WTA 125-standard venue, which they hope will become a reality.

The project, designed by architects Vincent Chua and Ellyza Chua, will feature an outdoor tennis complex with courts set against the scenic backdrop of Mactan Channel and the mountains on the opposing side.

The planned facility will be a significant upgrade for the SRP area. It will not only feature an international tennis facility but also contribute to the area's preparations for the 2028 Asian Beach Games.

No less than PSC Chairman Patrick Gregorio and PHILTA Executive Director Tonette Mendoza expressed their interest and excitement for the project. They see the facility as a way to promote tennis in the Philippines and to bring top-level international competitions to the country. They hope the project will be completed in time for the 2028 Asian Beach Games.
