Kaizer Chiefs Return Home Without a Win as Orlando Pirates Soar in Pre-Season Friendlies

The Kaizer Chiefs' pre-season tour in Spain ended on a sour note as they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Elche, their third consecutive match without a win. Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates enjoyed a sweet victory in their second pre-season friendly, thumping Cádiz CF 2-1 at the Marbella Football Center.

Amakhosi's struggles in pre-season friendlies are a cause for concern as they prepare to face Zimbabwean side Scotland FC in the Toyota Cup on July 26. Asanele Velebayi scored the only goal for Kaizer Chiefs, but it was not enough to prevent a third consecutive game without a win.

Orlando Pirates, on the other hand, celebrated their first win of the tour with a 2-1 victory over Spanish side Cádiz CF. Tshepang Moremi and Daniel Msendami found the back of the net for the Buccaneers at the Marbella Football Center, handing Jose Riveiro's side their first win of the tour.

Kaizer Chiefs will now return to South Africa and shift their attention to the Toyota Cup, where they will face Zimbabwean side Scotland FC at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace on Sunday, 26 July, with kick-off scheduled for 15:00. With their pre-season tour in Spain coming to an end, all eyes are on the Amakhosi as they prepare to take on the Zimbabweans in the Toyota Cup.

Orlando Pirates still have three more friendlies scheduled before concluding their training camp and returning to South Africa. This marks Orlando Pirates' third consecutive pre-season camp in Spain, while Kaizer Chiefs travelled to the European country for their pre-season preparations for the first time.

The two Soweto giants will clash in the MTN8 title in the not-so-distant future, and it remains to be seen how their pre-season performances will impact their chances in the tournament.
