Osun Election: PDP Accuses APC of Treating Election as War

I don't know if you've been following the Osun election vibes, but the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is accusing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of treating the contest like a war. According to them, the APC's language suggests that bloodshed could be the price for retaining power.

The PDP specifically cited a viral video where Senator Francis Fadahunsi allegedly made a statement about dealing with opponents, saying 'So, we have come to tell you, up till the day of the election, if we see them, it is killing.' The party demanded a transparent investigation into the incident, saying this inflammatory rhetoric has pushed the country's political temperature to a 'fever-pitch level.'

This isn't the first time the APC has been accused of using violent language in its campaigns. In the 2023 general elections, some APC supporters were accused of inciting violence in several states, but the party denied any wrongdoing.

The PDP is worried that if this kind of language continues, it could erode public confidence in elections and undermine the democratic process. The party is calling on President Bola Tinubu and the APC to moderate their language and ensure the Osun election is determined by voters rather than fear or coercion.

The PDP is not the only party that's spoken out against the APC's language. The Labour Party (LP) also condemned the comments, saying they were 'highly irresponsible and capable of inciting violence.'

The LP called on both parties to conduct themselves in a manner that's respectful and peaceful, saying this was essential for the integrity and credibility of the election.
