Agada's strong words were a direct reaction to a video shared by a content creator known online as Flag Boy NG. The video showed the creator, clad in a shirt associated with the Obidient Movement, a group supporting former presidential candidate Peter Obi, engaging in a symbolic act. He displayed political flags and materials linked to Peter Obi and the NDC, only to then remove the shirt and set the items ablaze. The clip has since sparked a firestorm on social media. Many interpreted the act as the content creator’s personal statement of distancing himself from the NDC and the broader political movement associated with Obi.
The video itself is quite dramatic. Flag Boy NG is seen meticulously taking down various political flags. He sheds his shirt and piles up all the materials. After dousing them with a liquid, he sets them alight, leaving a pile of burning political memorabilia. The footage concludes with a graphic featuring Nigerian flags, leaving the exact meaning of the symbolic act open to interpretation by viewers.
But for Agada, the message was clear enough: these content creators are using the guise of activism to line their own pockets. "To be honest, I am so exhausted," he wrote on X. "If the motivation isn't campaign donations, why are you people fighting over leadership in your micro-movements? Shame on you all." He believes that the party leadership needs to step in and remove these individuals. He feels they aren't genuinely committed to the party's cause. Instead, they're using its platform for personal enrichment. The NDC, of course, has become a significant platform for supporters of Peter Obi.
