EFCC Arrests Fake Operative Over Alleged N3m Fraud in Maiduguri

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested one Nuhu Dahiru for allegedly impersonating an EFCC operative and defrauding members of the public of N3m in Maiduguri, Borno State.

Nuhu Dahiru, who was posing as an EFCC operative, was arrested by the EFCC's Maiduguri Zonal Directorate following a tip-off that he had been deceiving people with the claim that he was working for the commission. According to the EFCC, Dahiru obtained N3m through false pretence.

The EFCC stated that Dahiru was arrested in Tashan Bama, along Bama Road, Maiduguri, Borno State. He was apprehended following credible intelligence that indicated that he had been parading himself as an officer of the EFCC, and thereby defrauding unsuspecting members of the public.

The EFCC added that a total sum of N3m was recovered from the suspect at the point of arrest. The suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
