Zamfara Govt Inaugurates Panel to Probe Suspended Poly Rector

'Your responsibility is not to presume guilt or innocent, but to establish the facts objectively,' Secretary to the Zamfara State Government, Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, told the panel.

The Zamfara State Government has inaugurated an eight-member investigation panel to probe the allegations of gross administrative misconduct and insubordination against the suspended Rector of Abdu Gusau Polytechnic, Dr Sirajo Abdullahi Shinkafi.

The Secretary to the Zamfara State Government (SSG), Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, inaugurated the committee on Monday in Gusau, the state capital. The panel is headed by the former Head of Service, Mujtaba Isah.

An investigation is needed because the suspended Rector, Dr Sirajo Abdullahi Shinkafi, was suspended in May 2026. Before his suspension, Dr Shinkafi had served as the Rector of Abdu Gusau Polytechnic since 2020, when he was appointed by Governor Dauda Lawal.

As Rector of Abdu Gusau Polytechnic, Dr Shinkafi oversees the educational institution's policies, academics, and administration. His suspension has disrupted activities at the institution.

In a speech at the inauguration ceremony, Governor Dauda Lawal praised Dr Shinkafi for his service and encouraged the panel to work diligently to investigate the allegations.

'We expect the panel to identify any institutional gaps and recommend practical measures that will strengthen governance, discipline, accountability, and administrative efficiency within the polytechnic as well as other state-owned tertiary institutions,' the SSG added.

The panel is expected to hold public hearings and conduct thorough investigations before submitting their report to the Zamfara State Government. The outcome of the investigation could have a significant impact on Dr Shinkafi's future and the future of Abdu Gusau Polytechnic.

The Zamfara State Government has promised to cooperate with the panel and provide all necessary information required for the success of the assignment.

Dr Sirajo Abdullahi Shinkafi's suspension comes amid a series of administrative challenges facing the Institution. The institution has been plagued by poor management and alleged corruption among staff.
