Nigerian Governorship Aspirant Slams Rainbow Coalition in Rivers State

Dr. Farah Dagogo, a former member of the House of Representatives and African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship aspirant in Rivers State, has taken a direct swipe at the Rainbow Coalition, a political bloc of various parties. Dagogo said during a strategic stakeholder consultation meeting in the state that the coalition's influence would be tested by voters in the 2027 general elections.

The Rainbow Coalition, a group of parties that include the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the All Progressives Congress (APC), and others, has been accused by Dagogo of prioritizing their interests over the development of Rivers State. Dagogo described the coalition as 'the chain of bondage militating against the state'.

Dagogo, who has expressed his intention to offer an alternative direction for the state through the ADC, stated that his administration would prioritize education, healthcare, security, power supply, job creation, and affordable housing. He also announced plans to integrate the STEAMS model into the state's education system and allocate five per cent of the state's annual budget to youth entrepreneurship, skills development, and job creation.

In his criticism of the Rainbow Coalition, Dagogo said that the coalition represented 'a collection of political interests that had failed to address the aspirations of Rivers people'. He accused the coalition of neglecting the needs of the state and its people, instead choosing to focus on their own interests.

Dagogo also expressed his opposition to any attempt to attribute the completion of the Bodo-Bonny Road project solely to any individual administration, stating that the project had a long history dating back several decades. He said that the project involved the contributions of traditional rulers, governments, and private sector partners across different administrations.

The ADC governorship aspirant also spoke out against the claims surrounding the completion of the Bodo-Bonny Road project, saying that attempts to attribute the project solely to any individual administration ignored the contributions of previous leaders and stakeholders. He recalled that the project had been pursued through different administrations, including those of former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo, Umaru Musa Yar'Adua, and Goodluck Jonathan.

Farah Dagogo is a former member of the House of Representatives and has been involved in various political pursuits in Rivers State. He has been a vocal critic of the Rainbow Coalition and has expressed his commitment to offering an alternative direction for the state through the ADC.
