The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned Minister Nyesom Wike's verbal attacks on Vice-Presidential candidate Rotimi Amaechi, warning Wike to restrain his comments.

The ADC, in a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Chizi Enyi, argued that Wike's comments showed he is afraid of growing opposition against the administration he is working for. The party dismissed Wike's statement suggesting that the 2027 election in Rivers State is settled and that any party he supports will be victorious at the poll.

Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, had recently stated that Amaechi no longer has the political clout to win elections in Rivers State. The ADC, however, argued that every election comes with its own challenges, pointing out that the electorate have become more aware, saying 2027 will be no different.

Rotimi Amaechi is the Vice-Presidential candidate of the ADC and a former Governor of Rivers State. He has been a key figure in Nigerian politics for several years and has held various positions, including Governor of Rivers State and Minister of Transportation.

The ADC's statement also pointed out that Wike's repeated references to previous elections tend to forget that elections are determined by citizens under prevailing political circumstances, and that every election is unique.

The ADC also warned Wike to concentrate on the enormous responsibilities of administering the Federal Capital Territory and allow Rivers people the freedom to make their democratic choices without intimidation, propaganda, or political grandstanding.

Wike has been a prominent figure in Nigerian politics for several years, serving as Governor of Rivers State and Minister of Transportation before being appointed Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
