The third edition of Langa LGBTQI+ Pride is set to bring a burst of colour to the streets next weekend. Established in 2023, the event has become a staple of Cape Town’s queer culture scene. Here members and allies of Langa’s LGBTQIA+ community can proudly celebrate diversity, promote awareness, and advocate for equality and inclusion… and have fun doing so!
This year’s theme is “Reclaiming Dignity, Culture and Belonging for LGBTQI+ People in our Communities.” The event will take place at the Guga S’Thebe Arts & Culture Centre on Washington Street next Saturday, 4 July 2026. It is expected to start at 09:00 and end at 17:00.
The Pride will kick off with a vibrant march through the streets of Langa, followed by live entertainment set, one that’s chock-full of performances from local DJs, poets, dancers and musicians, including LNS Queen Sinda, DJ Tee Bee, Vukile Moya, and Websta. The event will also feature an assortment of goods on sale, courtesy of vendors who form part of South Africa’s queer community.
In addition to the fun, there will be various community and wellness stalls onsite, all offering information and support services regarding various health initiatives, including HIV awareness. The event will cap off with a candlelight vigil to remember the folks whose lives were lost as a result of hate crimes and LGBTQIA+ discrimination.
The LGBTQI+ Pride in Langa is more than a celebration. It’s a powerful public statement from a community that is trying to live their truth in a township environment.
