Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has a message for his party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP): back off, or he'll spill everything.
The former Assin Central MP and ex-NPP flagbearer aspirant issued the warning on Net 2 TV, after party members criticised him for calling out the government over the incomplete Afari Military Hospital. He said the facility, meant to serve both soldiers and civilians, should've been finished after eight years of NPP rule.
“The NPP says I am bitter. I won't say anything to them. They think it's about what they did during the campaign. They can't shut me down,” Agyapong said.
He then took aim at the party's flagship Agenda 111 hospital project. “If Ghanaians want to know, they should ask them about Agenda 111, whether they were able to complete one. They sold the contracts to other people and took 10 per cent,” he alleged.
Agyapong didn't stop there. He warned that continued attacks could force his hand. “NPP should be careful with me, saying I am bitter. If they provoke me, I'll spill the beans all over the place,” he cautioned.
He also dragged the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) into the mess. Agyapong claimed that during the NDC's time, someone brought a $55 million contract to his wife and demanded a 7 per cent advance before releasing it. “In the NDC, too, I was there when somebody brought a contract to my wife worth 55 million dollars. She was asked to pay an advance of 7 per cent before they'd give it to her,” he alleged.
Agyapong insisted his criticism isn't about bitterness but about genuine concern for the country. He said corruption is deep in Ghana's political system and politicians keep deceiving the public.
Who Is Kennedy Agyapong?
Kennedy Ohene Agyapong is a firebrand politician and businessman who represented Assin Central in Parliament from 2005 to 2025. He ran for the NPP presidential ticket in 2023 but lost to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. Known for his blunt talk and investigative style, he's often exposed wrongdoing in both parties. He owns the Net 2 TV station where he made the latest comments.
The Afari Military Hospital project, located in the Ashanti Region, was launched by the NPP government in 2017 with a promise to boost healthcare. But years later, it remains unfinished. Agyapong used that fact to question the party's commitment to development.
Agyapong's threat isn't empty. He has a history of releasing documents and recordings to back his claims. In 2018, he played a key role in exposing the ‘Takoradi kidnapping’ scandal and has previously leaked audio tapes implicating party figures. If the NPP leadership continues to dismiss him, Ghanaians could see more revelations.
The party hasn't officially responded to his latest warning. But internal tensions are rising, with some members calling for his expulsion while others fear he could damage the party ahead of the 2028 elections.
“If they provoke me, I'll spill the beans all over the place.”
For now, Agyapong is holding the cards. And he's daring his party to call his bluff.
