PH Opens 3rd OFW Lounge in Mactan-Cebu Airport, Boosting Services for Overseas Filipino Workers

The Philippine government has launched its third Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) lounge at Mactan-Cebu International Airport, providing a convenient space for OFWs to access various government services before departure. The new lounge, which opened on June 26, is a collaborative effort between the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), and the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA). It is located at Terminal 2 and offers a range of services, including biometric data capturing, passport processing, and facilitation for travel documentation.

According to Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Susan Ople, the OFW lounge is designed to cater to the unique needs of OFWs, providing them with a comfortable and efficient experience before their departure. With the launch of this third OFW lounge, the government is ensuring that OFWs have a more streamlined and hassle-free experience, allowing them to focus on their preparations for working abroad.

The OFW lounge is open from 6 am to 10 pm daily, and it is available for all OFWs who are departing from the airport. The services offered at the lounge are free of charge, and OFWs can also take advantage of the lounge's facilities, including free Wi-Fi, comfortable seating areas, and food and beverage options.

The Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) has been working closely with the DMW and OWWA to ensure the success of the OFW lounge. In a statement, MCIA General Manager Steven Dacanay said that the airport is committed to providing a world-class experience for all passengers, including OFWs.

The Philippine government has been investing heavily in initiatives that support the welfare and well-being of OFWs. In addition to the new OFW lounge, the government has also established a dedicated OFW hotline and online platform to provide assistance and support to OFWs.
