Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, has urged Nigerians to support the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu to enable him solidify ongoing reforms for the benefit of Nigerians and the economy.
Tompolo, a former militant leader, is the founder and sponsor of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Door to Door Movement, a nationwide grassroots campaign aimed at mobilizing support for Tinubu's re-election bid.
The movement's Director-General, Sunday Asuku, said in a statement in Abuja that Tompolo urged Nigerians to come together and actualise Tinubu's re-election, stating that every vote is important and every door in Nigeria should be knocked on.
According to Asuku, the inauguration of the movement's national executive members will take place on July 9, 2026, in Abuja, as part of efforts to deepen grassroots mobilization and promote civic participation across the country.
The movement aims to promote national development and support the Federal Government's Renewed Hope Agenda through community engagement and democratic participation, Asuku added.
The objectives of the movement, Asuku said, are grassroots mobilization, taking the campaign directly to doorsteps, the Renewed Hope Agenda, and voter education.
The movement operates by engaging communities, households, and ordinary Nigerians directly, relying on local volunteers and emphasizing women and youth empowerment programs as a central tenet of its community outreach.
Tompolo believes that Tinubu's re-election is critical to drive the reforms to a logical conclusion and that Nigerians should come together to actualise this.
The movement plans to take the campaign directly to the doorsteps of Nigerians, rather than relying on elite endorsements, and will conduct grassroots outreach to ensure voters are correctly registered, informed, and motivated to vote.
The movement is a nationwide grassroots platform aimed at promoting national development and supporting the Federal Government's Renewed Hope Agenda through community engagement and democratic participation.
Asuku stated that the inauguration ceremony will serve as an opportunity to strengthen grassroots mobilization across the country, bringing together political leaders, community representatives, stakeholders, and other Nigerians.
Tompolo, however, is known for his militant past, leading the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), which carried out attacks on oil infrastructure in the Niger Delta region in the early 2000s.
He was later granted amnesty and is currently involved in various business ventures, including real estate and transportation.
Tompolo's support for Tinubu's re-election bid is seen as significant, given his influence in the Niger Delta region.

The inauguration of the movement's national executive members is just one step in the movement's plans to mobilize nationwide support for Tinubu's re-election.
The success of the movement will depend on its ability to engage communities and households directly, and to emphasize women and youth empowerment programs as a central tenet of its community outreach.
