Sanwo-Olu Joins Lagos Residents in Ojuelegba Area for Environmental Sanitation Exercise

The Lagos State Government's call for a cleaner and healthier Lagos has led Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other senior government officials to observe the monthly environmental sanitation exercise in the Ojuelegba area of the state on Saturday, June 27, 2026.

The Governor was flanked by the likes of Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, who urged residents to clean their homes, drainages, markets, and public spaces to prevent flooding and health risks.

According to the commissioner, a cleaner and healthier Lagos is a collective responsibility. Wahab stressed that proper waste disposal, regular environmental maintenance, and adherence to sanitation guidelines are essential to preventing flooding, reducing environmental hazards, and promoting public health.

The Lagos State Government had, a few days ago, issued a public reminder for the monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise, stating that the exercise is an opportunity for residents to take ownership of their environment and contribute to the state's vision of being a clean and sustainable city.

The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, emphasized the importance of individual participation in maintaining a clean environment, citing that the state's initiative alone cannot achieve a cleaner and healthier Lagos without the cooperation of residents.

In a statement on Wednesday, Wahab urged residents to come out and participate in the exercise as it is essential to maintaining a clean environment, preventing the spread of diseases, and reducing the risk of flooding. He encouraged residents to report any environmental concerns or issues to the relevant authorities.
