Oyo State Police Arrest Suspected Gun Runner, Recovery Pistol and Drugs

The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a suspected gun runner, Hammed Lateef, in Ibadan. He was apprehended by police operatives during a stop-and-search operation along Oshuntokun Avenue in the Bodija area of Ibadan North Local Government Area.

According to the police, two other suspects escaped during the operation and are currently being tracked. The police also found a locally fabricated pistol, one live cartridge, and sachets containing substances suspected to be Tramadol during a search of the discarded bag.

The Bodija Housing Police Division intercepted the three men traveling on a Bajaj motorcycle with registration number DTN 678 QA at about 9:30 pm during a routine intelligence-led stop-and-search exercise. And when officers approached the motorcycle, one of the occupants allegedly threw a bag into a nearby drainage.
