INEC Partners with NGO to Boost Voter Registration

Awareness in Ondo

The single sharpest fact in one or two punchy sentences. Who did what, where, when, and why it matters. Not a summary of everything — the one thing that makes someone stop scrolling.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has joined forces with U-Blaze Global Limited, a non-governmental organisation, to intensify voter registration awareness in Ondo State. The collaboration aims to encourage eligible Nigerians to register as first-time voters before the July 26 deadline for the Continuous Voter Registration exercise.

INEC's Head of Voter Education and Publicity Department in Ondo State, Mr Olayinka Ogunseye, commended the partnership, stating that it was necessary to expand voter education and increase citizens' participation in the electoral process. He noted that the Commission remains committed to expanding partnerships with civil society organisations and other stakeholders to strengthen voter education and public sensitisation.

The initiative, tagged 'PVC Assembly Walk 2026 – Vote Ready Ondo,' forms part of efforts to deepen voter education, promote responsible citizenship, and encourage eligible residents to register as first-time voters, apply for transfer of registration, or update their voter information before the close of the CVR exercise. The awareness walk covered major parts of the state capital and attracted students, members of the partner organisation, and electoral officials.

Participants used the opportunity to educate residents on the voter registration process and the importance of participating in elections. The awareness walk commenced at the First Bank Traffic Light, Alagbaka, and proceeded through Omi-Eja, A-Division, Olukayode, and Oja-Oba before terminating at Democracy Park, behind the Central Mosque, Akure.

INEC has continued to intensify voter education activities across the state as part of its commitment to ensuring that every eligible citizen has the opportunity to register and participate in future elections. The Commission has also urged all eligible citizens who are yet to register, those wishing to transfer their registration, or update their voter records, to take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise before the deadline.
