Introduction to Governor Mbah's Inspection

Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has inspected various major road and infrastructural projects executed by his administration. They're in preparation for their inauguration in a matter of weeks. The projects include the 40km Owo-Ubahu-Amankanu-Umualor-Neke-Ikem dual carriageway, 14.5km Amechi Idodo-Oruku-Amagunze Road, the New Enugu Smart City, and the Enugu International Hospital on Rangers Avenue, Enugu. These projects won't be completed for long, as the inauguration is just weeks away.

The 40km Dual Lane Road

The 40km dual lane road isn't just a road, but a major gateway that connects communities to farmlands. It provides new economic opportunities for the people of Enugu State. Governor Mbah says the road will enable people to travel to the North Central without going through 9th Mile or Opi Nsukka. He didn't mention any other routes, but he did say that they're just 600 metres away from the main road that takes you to Obollo Afor. That simply means this is a brand new gateway to the North.

The New Enugu Smart City

The New Enugu Smart City is another major project inspected by Governor Mbah. The initial 6.5km primary road, a dual carriageway, has been completed. Work is ongoing on the secondary and tertiary roads covering the initial 1,000 hectares of the 10,000-hectare smart city. The Commissioner for Works explained that each carriageway of the primary road measures 7.5m with a 2.5m shoulder. The median measures 12m. The right of way is 42m, which is quite wide.

Enugu International Hospital

The Enugu International Hospital on Rangers Avenue, Enugu, is also one of the projects inspected by Governor Mbah. Although the details of the hospital aren't fully provided, it's expected to improve the healthcare system in Enugu State. They haven't released all the information about the hospital, but it's likely to have a significant impact.

Inspection Outcome

Governor Mbah expressed satisfaction with the speed of work by the contractors, China Communications Construction Company (CCCC). He commended them for the good job they've done so far. The administration is interested in the quality of work, and CCCC is known for its high standards. Governor Mbah's government won't relent in its rural roads drive, including the ongoing dualization of the 44.1km Enugu – Ugwogo Nike – Opi Nsukka Road. They're committed to completing these projects.

Future Plans

The administration plans to extend the Amechi Idodo-Oruku-Amagunze Road to the Nkanu East Council Headquarters. They've also flagged off the construction of a 52.2km road from Lejja to Aku, Ukehe, Akpakume Nze, Egede, Affa, and Eke town. These projects are expected to expand economic opportunities for the citizens of Enugu State. They're likely to create new jobs and stimulate economic growth.
