Emeka Ike, a Nigerian actor, has threatened to take action against Lere Olayinka, an aide to Minister Nyesom Wike, over the alleged exposure of his voter data on social media. The leak is said to have been accessed through the Independent National Electoral Commission's administrative login portal. This incident represents a major test for the credibility of the 2027 elections.

Lere Olayinka, the aide, had shared what appeared to be Ike's voter information via an INEC administrative webpage. Olayinka attached two images to the post, which many users said contained details obtained from INEC's administrative login portal. The information included Ike's application number, registration centre, Voter Identification Number, profile picture, name, and date of application.

"I'm shocked, extremely angry, and this is the height of political rascality," Ike said about Olayinka's action. "I'm ready to challenge Olayinka over the alleged exposure of my private details." He went on to state that he would take action against Olayinka, as he had no right to exploit his privacy and insult Nigerians.

The Department of State Services is conducting a parallel probe into the breach, while INEC investigates how one of its staff accessed Ike's voter record. The electoral commission's internal audit trail pointed inward, with preliminary findings indicating there was no external breach of the CVR database.

Nollywood actor Emeka Ike has a long history in the Nigerian film industry. He rose to fame in the 1990s and has since appeared in numerous films and television shows. Ike has also been involved in various entrepreneurial ventures and has been a vocal advocate for the development of the arts in Nigeria.

INEC says its audit trail has enabled investigators to identify the specific user account through which the record was retrieved. Personnel involved in the incident have been questioned, and all units connected to the case are cooperating with the investigation, according to INEC National Commissioner Mohammed Haruna.

INEC is also examining every technical, administrative, and operational aspect of the breach to determine who was responsible.
