Elliot Vows to Deliver Selfless Leadership, Cites Electricity Progress in Surulere

Desmond Elliot, a 52-year-old actor-turned-politician, has said he will deliver selfless leadership to his constituents. In an interview with Morayo Brown, he reflected on his experience in politics and urged other politicians to remain mindful of the temporary nature of power. According to Elliot, his leadership style is not about personal enrichment but about serving the people.

During the interview, Elliot highlighted his achievements in office, particularly the improvement in electricity supply in his constituency. He claimed that electricity is one of the best in Nigeria within Surulere 10 years ago, it was a horrible place to live in. Today, there is electricity, healthcare, and all.

Elliot also argued that Nigeria should adopt a political system tailored to its own realities rather than borrowing models from other countries. He proposed a 30-year plan for rotating leadership among different regions. Yet, we are already following through a particular plan that leads us to 30 years. I'm just giving an idea, he said.

The politician further stated that he has not yet seen anyone capable of replacing President Bola Tinubu at the moment. I'm thinking, okay, who is the next saviour that can remove Asiwaju from what he is doing? Presently, I cannot see yet, he said.

Elliot entered politics in 2014 when he declared his intention to contest for a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly under the All Progressives Congress. He has been re-elected multiple times.

In another development, Elliot has been re-elected multiple times as the representative of Surulere Constituency I in Lagos State. His constituency has experienced significant improvements in electricity supply and healthcare services during his tenure.

Elliot's remarks come at a time when Nigerians are demanding good governance from their leaders. The actor-politician's selfless leadership style has raised eyebrows among some of his constituents. However, others argue that his achievements in office justify his style of leadership.

This is not the first time Elliot has spoken about his leadership style. In a previous interview, he said he is a politician who serves the people.
