Paris Saint-Germain isn't letting their coach walk away. Luis Enrique, the man who finally delivered a Champions League title to the French giants, has inked a new deal keeping him in charge until 2030. This isn't just a short-term handshake; it's a long-term commitment from a club that believes he's the one to keep them at the top. His previous contract was set to end this season, but the club clearly wanted to secure their winning formula.
The announcement dropped right before PSG's Ligue 1 clash against Monaco at the Parc des Princes. It wasn't just Enrique getting a new deal; five players also penned extensions: Joao Neves, Fabian Ruiz, Willian Pacho, Lucas Beraldo, and Senny Mayulu. PSG president Nasser al-Khelaifi made it clear these players, alongside Enrique, are seen as the backbone of the club's future. "They represent the present and the future of our club’s project," he stated. "Together, we’re aiming to build for the long term, to remain true to our values, and to continue writing a story that our supporters can be proud of."
Despite the positive news off the pitch, the team's performance on it has been shaky. PSG went on to lose their match against Monaco 2-1. They're now without a single win in their first three league games this season. For a club that has won back-to-back European Cups, this start isn't ideal. It certainly wasn't the celebratory atmosphere the club might have hoped for.
Even with the disappointing result, the 56-year-old Spanish coach expressed his deep satisfaction and renewed motivation. "It's not the best moment to talk about this, but what I can say is that it's the first time in my career – and I'm an old coach – in which I've stayed more than three years in the same club," Enrique admitted after the game. "I'm more motivated now than I was in my first year here, which is bizarre for me. I'm very happy and I hope to be up to the job."
Luis Enrique joined PSG at the start of the 2023/24 season with one clear mission: to win the Champions League, a trophy that had eluded the club despite massive investment. He delivered spectacularly, guiding them to a dominant 5-0 victory over Inter Milan in the 2025 final. And then, he did it again, defending their title by beating Arsenal in a penalty shootout in May 2026. On top of that European success, the team has also secured three Ligue 1 titles and two French Cups under his management since he took over from Christophe Galtier.
The extensions for the younger players are also significant. Spanish World Cup winner Fabian Ruiz has extended his deal until the end of next season with an option for another year. Meanwhile, promising talents like Portuguese midfielder Joao Neves, Brazilian defender Lucas Beraldo, Ecuadorian centre-half Willian Pacho, and homegrown youngster Senny Mayulu have all signed contracts keeping them at the club until 2031. This signals a clear investment in the club's long-term vision.
