Nigeria's oil production has reached a four-month high, hitting 1.74 million barrels per day in June. According to the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), this represents a 2.3% increase from the 1.70 million barrels per day recorded in May. The commission attributed this growth to stable production operations across most producing assets and the absence of major pipeline outages. The regulator noted that although a few producing assets experienced brief operational shutdowns, their impact on national output was minimal, and scheduled turnaround maintenance was completed without significant disruption to production. The commission further stated that this sustained increase in output reflects the commitment of operators and other industry stakeholders to improving operational efficiency, maintaining asset integrity, and enhancing production reliability across the upstream petroleum sector.

Data released by the NUPRC showed that average crude oil production, excluding condensates, increased to 1.56 million barrels per day in June from 1.53 million barrels per day in May. The output represents 104% of Nigeria's 1.5 million barrels per day OPEC production quota, and it is the country's highest crude oil production level since April 2020. The combined crude oil and condensate production averaged 1,735,398 barrels per day during the review period, extending Nigeria's production growth streak to a fourth consecutive month.

The commission also disclosed that Nigeria's combined crude oil and condensate production peaked at 1.89 million barrels per day in June, while the lowest daily production recorded that month was 1.57 million barrels per day. This indicates the country's growing capacity to attain the two million barrels per day production target. A breakdown of production by export terminals showed that Bonny Terminal remained the country's highest-producing terminal, with an average production of 318,280 barrels per day, up from 293,880 barrels per day in May.

Nigeria's oil production has been on a steady rise in recent months, with the country's crude oil and condensate output showing significant improvement. This growth can be attributed to the efforts of operators and industry stakeholders to improve operational efficiency, maintain asset integrity, and enhance production reliability.

The sustained increase in output reflects the commitment of Nigerian oil producers to meet their OPEC quotas and achieve the country's production target of two million barrels per day. With this progress, Nigeria is poised to become a significant player in the global oil market.

But for the country to achieve its production target, it needs to continue investing in its oil infrastructure and implementing policies that promote the growth of the upstream petroleum sector.

Nigeria's oil production is a critical component of the country's economy, and this growth has significant implications for the country's revenue and economic growth.
